Seana Jewer: Community-based Suicide Prevention and Building Supports/Capacity

Today, we are talking to a good friend, community member and Roots of Hope Outreach Worker, Seana Jewer! Roots of Hope is a community suicide prevention initiative (specifically working in the Northern Zone of Nova Scotia). Beginning here in Nova Scotia in 2021, Seana has been invested in understanding how to support folks from a community-based lens. We talk about all things mental health systems, building community support/capacity and research! “We have defaulted that it’s the community's role is to navigate folks to the help but, we can do a lot more. We don't have to wait until people hit rock bottom.”
